“CAMTEL is now ISO 9001/2015 certified in its wholesale segment,” has been the message for the past few days by the telephone operator on its various web platforms. ISO 9001 certification is an international standard that defines the requirements of a quality management system. Recognized throughout the world, it represents a real pledge for companies and organizations who want to prove their quality approach for the satisfaction of their customers. Companies certified to this standard benefit from a better competitiveness compared to those which are not.
This certification comes more than a month after the government has granted the Cameroon Telecommunications Company three concession agreements, namely the fixed telephone, mobile and transport. CAMTEL thus became the fourth mobile telephone operator in Cameroon alongside three large multinationals. The French firm Orange, the South African group Mobile Telecommunications Network (MTN) and the Vietnamese firm Viettel through its local subsidiary Nextell. ISO 9001/2015 certification thus becomes a major asset for the public enterprise, which is entering the scene in a sector which is certainly competitive, but rich in opportunities.
To date, the state-owned company “covers approximately 65% of the Cameroonian population, or 55 divisions out of 58, including the localities located on the main road axes, university towns, seaside towns, the main agglomerations, etc. “
Concretely, CAMTEL also notes that, the construction of the mobile network has made it possible to deploy to date 413 BTS 3 and 4G (equipment making it possible to radiate the indicated networks) throughout the territory, “with prospects for an extension of around 60 BTS by December 31, 2020 ”. During the 4G handover ceremony, CAMTEL’s Director General Judith Yah Sunday said: “Cameroonians, wherever they are, will benefit from innovative services at the best prices. CAMTEL intends to play its full role as a catalyst to improve the quality of electronic communications services and make the services offered affordable. We are firmly committed to this, and it will be felt in the months to come. ”
