Theodore Nsangou, CEO of EDC, on March 16, 2021, paid a working visit to the foot of the Lom-Pangar hydroelectric dam, where the 30 megawatt plant will be located. At the site, workers from the Chinese company CAMCE are busy. “The civil engineering work carried out over the past three months is quite impressive. An intense activity of reinforcement takes place there, as well as the mass concreting of the first phase where the electromechanical equipment will be installed.”
According to the explanations of the General Manager of Electricity development corporation, at the moment, it is the work of reinforcement and the concreting of the supports of the various penstocks which is being done. “And you can see with me that we have already concreted penstock number one and in two weeks, we will attack penstocks two, three and four and at the same time we are suddenly concreting the walls”, explains Théodore Nsangou, whose comments are relayed in the columns of the newspaper.
In view of the favorable social climate on the site, the CEO of EDC took the opportunity to reaffirm that “the end of the construction of the foot plant is scheduled between the end of December 2021 and the end of March 2022. I am in doing everything to keep this calendar despite the Covid pandemic. In fact, I will be at this site every two months to monitor the progress of the work “.
The level of execution of the site is estimated at 45%. Théodore Nsangou reassures that the construction of the 90 kilovolt high voltage transmission line that will leave Lom-Pangar for the Bertoua transformer station is progressing.
“Regarding this component, we have no concerns about the timing. In fact, this transmission line will be delivered between November and December 2021. On this side, there is less concern than on the factory. Our goal is that by the time the plant arrives between the end of December 2021 and the end of March 2022 that the transmission line has already been completed, ”he said.
