Cameroon’s Finance Minister extends Tax payment date

In a press release signed on March 12, 2021, the Minister of Finance (MINFI), informs the public that in order to support taxpayers in a context of the persistent health crisis and the dematerialization of tax procedures, the date cut-off point for reporting and paying tax balances for the year is changed.

Louis Paul Motaze specifies that taxpayers under the Large Business Directorate will have to pay their rights on March 31 instead of March 15, 2021. For those coming under the medium-sized business tax centres and specialized tax centres, the date is set for April 15 instead of March 15, 2021. Finally, the deadline for taxpayers under the divisional tax centres is set for April 30 instead of March 15, 2021.

MINFI further informs that training seminars in the use of teleprocedures will be organized for the benefit of said taxpayers according to a schedule available from the tax services. Louis Paul Motaze also indicates that the formats of Statistical and Fiscal Declarations (DSF) and the related user guide can be downloaded from the website of the Directorate General of Taxes at www.impôts.cm.

This postponement comes two months after the MINFI postponed by 15 days, the deadlines for payment of taxes for the 1st quarter of 2021. “Legally fixed for the 15th of each month for these taxpayers, these dates have been postponed respectively to January 31, 28 February and March 31, 2021 ”, indicated Louis Paul Motaze in a press release signed on January 11, 2021, specifying that these payments will be effective on these dates in the cities of Douala, Yaoundé, Bamenda and Limbe.

This exceptional measure, justifies the MINFI, aims to “support the interested parties during the phase of initiation into remote tax procedures”. The reform initiated in these four cities, “will be extended to the divisional tax centers of the regional capitals from April 1, 2021 and to all other CDI from July 1, 2021”, he continued, recalling that the receipts previously issued manual will be replaced by electronic receipts.
