Cameroon opts for Indian model to strengthen Entrepreneurship

This is what emerges from the meeting between the Minister of Small and Medium Enterprises and the High Commissioner of India in Cameroon, held on March 31, 2021 in Yaoundé. When it comes to the development of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), India is an example to follow. This Asian giant has a set of programs that diversify the entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Its experience in digital innovation and creativity can be beneficial for Cameroon. The subject was at the centre of discussions on Wednesday, March 31, 2021, between Achille Bassilekin III, Minister of Small and Medium Enterprises, Social Economy, and RAKESH Malothra, High Commissioner of the Republic of India in our country. “India attaches great importance to the development of micro-enterprises because it is what constitutes the essence of our economic fabric and generates a lot of jobs for the young people. Obviously, we want to strengthen our cooperation in this direction and especially in the promotion of start-ups ”.

Also, the two personalities paid careful attention to the export component. The two countries are already considering a roadmap to facilitate the export of handicraft products.

“There is a kind of handicraft export promotion centre in India. And I invited the High Commissioner to join me in going to visit this international centre for crafts in Yaoundé so that he can get an idea of ​​the level at which we are evolving in terms of arts and crafts. production crafts. I think that we will very quickly organize a virtual meeting with the managers of this centre based in the capital, in New Delhi (India, editor’s note) with some of the managers here and associations responsible for crafts, ”announces Achille Bassilekin III.

Cameroon wants to draw inspiration from the Indian experience to boost the growth of local Small and Medium Enterprises. The Cameroonian boss of SMEs and the High Commissioner of India in Cameroon also put on the table exchanges, the strengthening of the bonds of friendship between Yaoundé and New Delhi.
