African Aviation experts boost skills in Congo

The Airports Council International Africa (ACI-Africa) company opened, on October 14, in Brazzaville, with the support of Aérco (Aéroports du Congo), a special training course for African technicians in the field, with a view to strengthening their operational skills in airport security audits.

About twenty technicians selected from eight airports in the ACI Africa area and from five countries are participating in the training session that will end on Friday, under the aegis of the Director General of Aérco, Marcellus Boniface Bongho. Thirteen themes will be developed by experts in the field, some of whom have come from elsewhere.

These include, among other things, inspection of runway side works; initiation and removal of obstacles; visual aids to signal an obstacle; visual aids to navigation-lights; visual aids to navigation-signal signs and protection of navigation aid locations.

The new concepts they will receive will allow these participants to better sharpen their professional knowledge in airport security, in accordance with the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). ” This training, which is part of the implementation of the African Airports Development Program (AADP), will allow all the experts present here to acquire the skills necessary for the rigorous application and evaluation of security measures issued in accordance with ICAO international standards. The plurality of participants here demonstrates the willingness of stakeholders in our sub-region to work in a network to improve airport security ,” stressed the Director General of Aérco.

Speaking about Congolese airports, he praised the efforts made by ACI Africa for initiating training modules for African international airports, which enabled them to successfully conduct their certification processes. Training offers, he added, which accelerated the certification process of Maya-Maya International Airport in Brazzaville and Antonio-Agostinho-Neto Airport in Pointe-Noire, which should be certified by the end of the current year.

Let us recall that Aérco is a public limited company. Its vocation is to guarantee us a clean and secure airport environment, to offer adapted and quality services in order to contribute to the development of air transport in Congo.

Its ambition is to sustainably become the reference airport group in Central Africa, by federating all airport stakeholders through the professionalism of its teams, the quality of its infrastructure and compliance with international standards. The opening of the seminar took place in the presence of the representative of ACI-Africa and those of the Ministry of Transport.
