Congo to recruit over 4500 new civil servants in 2021

The 2021 Finance law, recently adopted by Parliament to the tune of FCFA 1,873,957 billion in resources and FCFA 1,523,387 billion in expenditure, provides, among other things, for the recruitment of 4,515 new civil servants.

Despite the economic and financial situation in the country, the government intends to strengthen the workforce in several sectors of activity. For the first time, the quotas for budget posts opened in the pre-school, primary and secondary (general and technical) and basic health sectors are departmental. “The decrees and orders for recruitment will specify the local authorities of assignment or provision,” said the report of the economy and finance committee of the National Assembly.

With regard to actual recruitments, 1,700 posts are planned at the level of primary, secondary and literacy education; 410 technical and vocational education, skills training and employment; 80 to social affairs and humanitarian action. At the Ministry of Health, Population, Promotion of Women and the Integration of Women in Development, 715 places are available, including 268 for doctors trained in Cuba.

With more than 1000 decision-makers, awaiting recruitment, the Ministry of Communication and Media has been reserved 100 positions; Culture and the arts 30 places; Sports and physical education 60; Youth and civic education 60; Agriculture, breeding and fishing 250; 120 training schools; Finances and budget 90.

The Ministry of the Civil Service has a quota of 250 places; Justice, human rights and the promotion of indigenous peoples 40; Commerce 35; Land use planning, equipment, major works 65; Land affairs and public domain 70; Scientific research 40 positions.

The Ministry of Forest Economy will be staffed with 60 positions; Tourism 35; Higher education 180; Post and telecommunications 25; other institutions 100.

To revive the economic policy, the government has committed to respecting the main commitments made. This involves, in particular, prioritizing social spending as well as investment spending promoting the return to activity and employment.

These objectives go through the finalization of work to improve the technical platforms of the Brazzaville hospital and university centre; the extension of the healthcare offer with the completion of the work of the two general hospitals (Brazzaville and Pointe-Noire). Added to this is the financing of the operationalization of the universal health insurance fund.
