A few days ago, the privileged economic zone of Nkok (Zerp) received the prize of “Global Free Zone of the Year” in the category “Wood products” for the year 2020, awarded by Foreign Direct Investment ( FDI). A distinction for which the administrative authority of Zerp de Nkok thanked the President of the Republic.
“This distinction rewards the vision of the Head of State Ali Bongo, who on the one hand banned the export of logs and on the other hand created the Zerp of Nkok to boost the diversification of the Gabonese economy”, writes the administrative authority, who thanked “the partners (institutional, economic and social) who support this project on a daily basis”.
According to FDI Magazine, considered the world’s leading publication for the classification of free zones, the Zerp de Nkok is a catalyst for Gabon’s journey in diversifying the economy, generating nearly 5,000 direct jobs and as many indirect jobs. . Likewise, the area has a 38% share of the total containers exported out of the country and has seen an increase in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) flows of nearly $ 1.7 billion.
