Contrary to rumors circulating recently on social networks, the Transgabonais Operating Company (SETRAG) specifies that if it has stopped the transport of passengers in accordance with the measures decreed by the government, it continues to ensure the transport of freight in this period of health crisis, in particular to allow populations to be supplied with basic necessities in the five provinces crossed by the rails.
Although it has interrupted passenger transport for several weeks, in accordance with measures decreed by the government to limit the spread of Covid-19 in the country, SETRAG has not ceased all its railway activities as some have claimed in recent days on social media. Quite the contrary. The general management informs that, as part of its support for the government’s efforts in this period of health crisis, SETRAG continues its freight activity for which its teams are deployed daily in the field.
This includes ensuring the continued transportation of basic necessities, goods, oil, timber and mining products in the five provinces crossed by the railroad. For the operator of the Transgabonais, the objective is to prevent a possible shortage for any product whatsoever, while the populations, already weakened by the crisis, are suffering the consequences of preventive measures having considerably reduced the frequency of their activities .
The continuity of its freight activity is also for SETRAG the means of preserving the economic activity of companies established in the hinterland.
Also, the company has adopted in recent days a new type of operation with the aim of offering impeccable services to its partners during this crisis. In addition to security measures and protection against any contamination of its agents which have been reinforced, SETRAG has set up remote working, including for its partners. Customer orders and exchanges with suppliers will now be made exclusively by email or telephone calls, with the exception of the registration of parcels at the freight station and deliveries to stores, informs the company. SETRAG has also opted for new timetables. The declarations of shipments of goods and packages are now made from Monday to Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and the sales team ensures a daily standby from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
