A training offer for 100 young people passionate about renewable energy issues has been launched in Cameroon. It is a training project initiated by Environment, Renewable Energies and ICT in Central Africa (dubbed ENERTIC in French), a company involved in the process of supplying Central African countries with renewable energies. Candidates were selected on March 24, 2020.
In a few weeks, young Cameroonians will receive training in the implementation of projects related to improving access to electricity through renewable energy. ENERTIC, a company involved in the process of supplying Central African countries with renewable energy (RE), has just launched a call for applications to select 100 young people passionate about renewable energy issues.
Thanks to this training, the youths will be able to install photovoltaic systems. They will also be able to ensure the maintenance of these installations, which provide green energy.
The training will take place in ENERTIC’s centres located in Yaoundé, the capital of Cameroon, and in Ombessa, a locality in the Mbam and Inoubou subdivision, also in the central region. “The training will last 12 months.
It will facilitate the socio-professional integration of potential graduates,” explains Armand Claude Abanda, the project leader and executive president of the Forum of Universities and Vocational Schools of Central Africa (FUGEPAC).
To benefit from the training offered by ENERTIC, those interested will have to provide an application form addressed to the company director, a copy of his or her highest diploma, a copy of his or her birth certificate. He/she will also have to attach to the file two colour passport photos and a sum of 5,000 CFA francs (about 7.65 euros). Applications will be selected on the 24th of March 2020.
ENERTIC has been working since 2019 in partnership with Blue Power, an international supplier of renewable energy to developing countries, to supply the countries of Central Africa with renewable energy. Its long-term objective is to improve access to electricity in the sub-region.Cameroon has vast renewable energy resource potentials, with a hydropower potential of about 55,200MW, second only to the Democratic Republic of Congo in Africa. So far, its energy needs are met by 4.8% hydropower (which accounts for less than 5% of its total hydropower potential), 0% wind and 0% solar.
