Women entrepreneurship: Women created 3,572 businesses in Cameroon in 2019

These statistics are revealed by the Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises, Social Economy and Handicrafts, to salute the dynamism of women in the entrepreneurial world.

Female entrepreneurship is doing well in Cameroon. Women are now an important link in the entrepreneurial chain in Cameroon, and help improve the local economic fabric. In 2019, they created 3,572 businesses, including 2,132 online, according to statistics released by the Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises, Social Economy and Handicrafts.

The boss of this ministerial department, Achille Bassilekin III, praised this dynamism, on September 15, 2020, during the inauguration ceremony of the new headquarters of the Cameroon Business Women Group (GFAC) in the Ngoa-Ekellé district in Yaoundé, Center region.

“This dynamism is also to be put to the credit of GFAC which, through its actions of mobilization and awareness, dissemination of business culture among women, support for women entrepreneurs contributes to the implementation government options, under the leadership of Prime Minister Chief Dr Dion Ngute, in execution of the Head of State’s high instructions, ” Achille Bassilekin III said.

It has also allocated an envelope of 50 million CFA Francs to this entity to encourage female entrepreneurship. This endowment is part of the support program for the incubation structures of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, enacted by a decree of the Prime Minister dated January 22, 2020.
