Teaching platform “Icole” makes way in Gabon to boost education

Young Gabonese have just launched the “Icole” platform. It offers several appropriate functions, in particular for online teaching, access to Zoom (Video conference, team viewer), coaching and mentoring.

In these times of restrictions and promotion of barrier measures to slow or even stop the spread of Covid-19, telework is more than recommended. In this sense, new digital tools are being developed to stick to this new deal. This is the case of the “Icole” platform (https://icole.attitis.com/en/) developed by young Gabonese programmers which offers several features, such as distance education, mentoring, coaching or even access to Zoom.

For Axell Nze Ayong, one of the promoters of this project, the environment is constantly changing which is also inducing changes in the world of technology. The “Icole” platform is part of this dynamic to offer some solutions to the concrete problems of our daily lives. “Distance learning is an effective tool that allows you to anticipate and support technological developments in all sectors of activity. This is the time of school and home training for many pupils, students and professionals, “she explains.

According to her, “each family can have access to online resources: exercises and even virtual classes in videoconference available on our platform”. It also provides users with a certain number of tools including lessons, group and / or collaborative work, communication between peers and with teachers, sharing of documents, writing educational content by incorporating resources (management of learners and registrations, management and archiving of content, monitoring of learners’ activity, their progress and their integration into the group in collaborative activities, communication with learners).

The platform is available in French and English. Using “Icole” is very simple, according to its promoters. “Once you access the site, you have the option of opening an account, either a learner account or a trainer account with an email or username (if you don’t have an email). You can also go to the course page, select the course and register, then you will have access to all the options that are offered for this course from your account “. The principle is the same for trainers who will have to send a registration request to offer courses.

Two categories of people can use Icole. Those who feel the need to improve their knowledge and skills in a specific area and those with qualifications, skills, experience or know-how in a specific area and who wish to share them. The learning management system is also offered to companies and to schools and universities.

The group of young people led by Axell Nze Ayong believes that “nowadays, the economy is no longer based solely on industrial production or on production of services”. “It is also on innovation activities. This requires high levels of skills and qualifications for businesses, administrations and other industries. ” This project is supported by this ideal, and its vocation is to offer the greatest number of opportunities to increase their skills in areas of their choice,  Axell Nze Ayong says.
