The Gabonese Ministry of Economy has announced tax rebates for 175 Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and Very Small Enterprises (VSEs) impacted by Covid-19 on June 9. The beneficiaries of this measure represent 15 different business sectors.
Good news for several economic operators in Grand Libreville, impacted by the Covid-19. The Minister of Economy announced, on June 9, tax rebates for 175 Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs) and Very Small Enterprises (VSEs), whose activities have been affected by the terrible virus.

The companies benefiting from these tax rebates operate in 15 different activity sectors: car wash, hairdressing, shoemaking, brickyard, consulting, catering, cosmetics, dry cleaning, public works, microfinance, food, sewing, retail, electronics and hotels.
The lucky ones were selected after examining the files by the Tax Counter, said the Minister of Economy. “Beneficiaries of tax breaks are asked to approach the tax centres on which they depend,” Jean-Marie Ogandaga said. As part of the accompanying measures linked to the Covid-19 crisis, Gabon set up, in May, a Tax Counter open to businesses and employees.
This aims to support the implementation of three specific measures. These are the 50% reduction in the business tax and the Tax withholding Tax (ISL) on small traders and SMEs in personal services; the remission of taxes to companies that will preserve jobs and show solidarity and exemplary in the unprecedented crisis situation that we are going through; the tax exemption of exceptional bonuses paid to employees who will exercise their professional activity during the confinement period.
