The new Managing Director of MTN Cameroon, Wanda Matandela, is increasing the number of meetings with Cameroonian authorities before his official installation scheduled for March 1, 2025. Objective: a smooth transition and a strengthened commitment to improving services.
Since January 27, 2025, Wanda Matandela, appointed last December as head of MTN Cameroon, has been busy meeting with the country’s senior officials. Accompanied by his predecessor, Mitwa Ng’ambi, who will take over the management of MTN Côte d’Ivoire, the new boss of the telecommunications leader in Cameroon was received by several key institutions. He met in particular with Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute, the Technical Advisor to the Presidency of the Republic, Claude Ayem Mauger, as well as with Minette Libom Li Likeng, Minister of Posts and Telecommunications. Other discussions took place with the general directors of the Telecommunications Regulatory Agency (ART), Philémon Zo’o Zame, and the National Agency for Information and Communication Technologies (ANTIC), Ebot Ebot Enaw.

The South African High Commission in Cameroon, represented by Mandla Langa, also welcomed Wanda Matandela, confirming the importance of bilateral relations between the two countries in the telecommunications sector.
With 20 years of experience, including 13 in telecommunications, Wanda Matandela is a seasoned executive of the MTN Group. He joined the company in 2018 as Chief Business Officer and contributed to the turnaround of this activity. Before his appointment in Cameroon, he sat on the Board of Directors of Supersonic and MTN Rwanda, and held the position of Commercial Director at MTN South Africa. The group emphasizes that his expertise in commercial management and stakeholder relations will be a major asset to continue the development of MTN Cameroon.
As MTN celebrates 25 years of presence in Cameroon, the operator is planning major investments to improve the quality of the network. A budget of 62 billion FCFA will be committed in 2025 as part of a three-year program of 187 billion FCFA, aimed at expanding infrastructure and improving services. Wanda Matandela therefore arrives with the heavy mission of strengthening network coverage and improving the quality of services, a crucial challenge in an increasingly demanding market. Taking office in March will mark the beginning of a new chapter for MTN Cameroon, with the ambition of consolidating its leadership position and accelerating its digital transformation.
