IZIWAY plans to position itself as Cameroon’s online business platform

It organizes two weeks of “Black Friday” and offers more than 100,000 references with discounts to the public. After the departure of Jumia, the African e-commerce giant in November 2019 from Cameroon, Iziway wants to fill the void of a growing market. The Cameroonian platform wants to position itself as a leader in online commerce in Cameroon. To achieve this, it launched from November 20 to December 4, 2020, two weeks of “Black Friday”, the most anticipated online shopping event in the world.

“We chose to organize it in two weeks in order to give every Cameroonian the opportunity to benefit from these crazy offers for reasons related to our context. Those who will not be able to log in the first few days will have the opportunity to catch up during the two weeks, “said Guy Talom, Iziway’s promoter. Called “Izi Black Friday”, “the event has many surprises in store and especially reductions of up to 80% on all categories available through the platform,” said Guy Talom.

A unique opportunity of the year for customers from all regions of the country to renew home and office equipment or even offer gifts to loved ones. But also a moment of communion and sharing between the brand and its stakeholders, continues the young promoter.

Those responsible for the platform have spared no effort to provide this opportunity to the public. “We put all of our sales people to work on this operation in order to have the widest range of products possible. More than 100,000 references with crazy discounts and above all lots of prizes to be won every day during this campaign “, explains the sales manager of Iziway.

On the program of this operation, flash sales (exclusive promotions and very short durations with extraordinary discounts) every day with even crazier prices, promo tickets and products to be won and put into play through the Facebook page of the site.

After resisting the competition, Iziway, which claims tens of thousands of customers, has set out to conquer the entire territory in order to give all Cameroonians the opportunity to benefit from the advantages of electronic commerce. While deliveries were only possible in the two large metropolises (Douala and Yaoundé) at the start of its activities, we learn, the platform now operates in all regions of Cameroon with diversified and secure means of payment such as payment to delivery or even mobile money from its partners Orange and MTN.

According to the digital economy commission of the Cameroon Inter-Patronal Group (GICAM), e-commerce generated around $ 3.5 billion worldwide in 2019. Strong growth which was enriched by added value estimated at 20 % in 2020 in Cameroon. A recent study by the online magazine Agriotis reveals that e-commerce is a booming business sector in Cameroon.

A situation made possible by the internet penetration rate estimated at 23% and the smartphone penetration rate estimated at 72%. 66% of online orders, the study reveals, are made from a cell phone. However, the difficulties persist. In particular the approximate quality of the connection. However, enormous efforts are being made by public authorities to improve the digital ecosystem. In 2018, the United Nations conference on e-commerce ranked Cameroon 10th in the African online sales market.
