The African Development Bank’s (AfDB) commitment to supporting Gabon in implementing its national development policy, as well as ongoing projects in the country, was at the heart of discussions on December 6 between President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema and the President of the AfDB Group, Sidi Ould Tah. “The African Development Bank is fully committed to supporting the National Development Plan promoted by the Head of State,” the head of the pan-African financial institution reassured.
During a visit to the Gabonese capital, the President of the African Development Bank Group, Sidi Ould Tah, was received on December 6 by the Head of State, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema. His presence in Libreville is part of efforts to strengthen cooperation between the AfDB and Gabon.

According to the Presidential Statement, discussions focused on ongoing major infrastructure projects, notably the Ndendé–Doussala road section. This 274-kilometer project connects Ndendé to the Doussala border post, at the demarcation with the Republic of Congo. While strategic, the project is currently facing administrative, technical, and financial constraints that are slowing its progress. President Oligui Nguema therefore emphasized the importance of ” accelerating the implementation of this road corridor to stimulate regional trade and support sub-regional integration .”
Beyond simply building the road, this project aims to create a socio-economic impact in the local area, generating more than 500 direct and indirect jobs and also including the construction of ancillary infrastructure such as schools, clinics, and markets. These components should ” sustainably improve the living conditions of the local population ,” said the President of the African Development Bank, highlighting the human and social dimension of this project.
Recognizing the importance of this infrastructure for regional development, the two leaders agreed on the need to intensify their efforts to remove obstacles and ensure the project’s swift completion. The aim is to pave the way for new economic opportunities while delivering tangible and lasting benefits to local communities.
