According to the sectoral outlook note of the General Directorate of Economy and Fiscal Policy (DGEPF) of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the production of drinking water has stabilized at 29.6 million m3 , in the first quarter of 2020. At the same time, total electricity production rose 4.1% to 637 GWh (Giga Watt hour) over the same period.
The water and electricity sector fared better in the first quarter of 2020 despite the Covid-19’s battering. This is at least what the sectoral outlook note, published in mid-June by the Directorate General for the Economy and Fiscal Policy (DGEPF), announces.

Drinking water production stabilized at 29.6 million m3 in the first quarter of 2020. “This development can be explained by the saturation of production capacities, especially in Libreville”. Sales excluding sales increased by 3.2% to 16.5 million m3, driven by household demand (+ 5.8% of the number of subscribers). Turnover increased 2.9% in the wake of the increase in volumes sold.
As far as electricity is concerned, total electricity production rose by 4.1% to 637 GWh in the first three months of 2020. “This development is the result of both improved performance SEEG and the Heritage Company ”. At the same time, the volume invoiced excluding sales increased by 3.2% to 454 GWh. The sectoral outlook note ensures that “this good performance is correlated with the firmness of household demand, in connection with the containment of populations in March (+ 7.4% of the number of subscribers)”.
Turnover appreciated by 1.3% to 46.6 billion CFA francs, thanks to the increase in volumes sold, despite the drop in medium voltage sales linked to the cessation and / or slowdown in activity in several sectors of the economy because of the health crisis.
