Gabon receives Generators to boost Electricity production

On behalf of the Gabonese State, the Minister of Energy and Water Resources, Jeannot Kalima, received, on August 12, an additional batch of generators intended to increase the energy supply in the hinterland. This donation of 8 devices is to be credited to the international group Arise IIP and is part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policy.

As cities in the interior of Gabon are not sufficiently supplied with energy, the international group Arise IIP has undertaken to strengthen state capacities in this regard. On August 12, following the first gesture of May 2024, eight additional generators, with a capacity of 2250 KVA each, were handed over to the government via the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources. Their objective is to improve the energy supply in the hinterland and to help populations who regularly experience power cuts.

Gabon is indeed experiencing enormous problems in terms of energy supply. Power cuts are rife in the cities of the hinterland and during its republican tour, this problem was particularly presented by the populations. The Arise IIP initiative therefore participates in the search for immediate solutions and measures to alleviate this energy crisis.

The equipment was handed over at the New Owendo International Port, Gabon’s first multi-cargo port responsible for the logistics, handling, storage and delivery of these generators to the communities. On behalf of the Arise IIP group, GSEZ CEO Igor Simard recalled that last May, the company had already handed over a first batch of two generators to Libreville International Airport.

” Today, we are offering a second series of eight generators of the same capacity. We hope that these ten generators (of 2250 KVA per group) will effectively meet the energy needs of the hinterland ,” he hoped.

On behalf of the government, the head of the department in charge of Energy and Water Resources expressed his satisfaction, noting that ” the reception today of these eight generators demonstrates the strength of the partnership between the Gabonese State and the international group Arise .” Jeannot Kalima further emphasizes that ” these devices will contribute significantly to improving the living conditions of the populations of the beneficiary localities .”

Since the arrival of the new authorities in power, the search for ways and means to improve the living conditions of the populations remains their hobbyhorse. In this perspective, this initiative is part of the program launched by the President of the Transition, General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, aimed at strengthening the energy capacities of all cities in Gabon. This is especially true since development also depends on energy.

These devices therefore support existing infrastructures in the various localities which are no longer able to meet the growing energy demand of these populations.

The reception of these generators took place in the presence of Joël Lehman Sandoungout, general director of SEEG, and Martin Boguikouma, general director of Oprag.
