Gabon and Saudi Arabia strengthen Financial Cooperation

The revival of economic relations between Gabon and Saudi Arabia should accelerate. On February 4, the Deputy Prime Minister in charge of Planning and Foresight received a delegation from the Saudi Fund for Development (FSD). At the center of the discussions was the consolidation of a historic partnership and the establishment of advantageous financing to support strategic projects in Gabon.

A delegation from the Saudi Fund for Development (FSD) was received on Tuesday, February 4 in Libreville by the Deputy Prime Minister in charge of Planning and Foresight, Alexandre Barro Chambrier. Relations between Gabon and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are not new. For more than four decades, the two nations have maintained active cooperation, through investment projects in various key sectors. This new meeting is part of the desire of the two countries to breathe new life into this cooperation and explore new economic opportunities.

According to the Vice-Prime Minister, ” energize partnerships through concessional financing opportunities .” These financial mechanisms, characterized by preferential interest rates and long-term maturities, represent a major opportunity for Gabon as they allow resources to be mobilized under advantageous conditions, thus facilitating the implementation of structuring projects. For Gabon, an opportunity to direct this financing towards key development sectors. In the country, these also include infrastructure, energy, education and health.

By relaunching this cooperation, the two countries are displaying a common ambition to strengthen their economic ties and promote sustainable growth. Saudi Arabia, through its development fund, reaffirms its commitment to financing projects with a strong social and economic impact in Africa. The meeting could pave the way for new cooperation agreements and facilitate the arrival of Saudi investors in Gabon.
