ENEO embarks on Metre inspection campaign in Douala

The current operation concerns all households, businesses and small industries connected to Eneo’s low-voltage network, i.e. more than 600,000 of the company’s customers.

From October 16 to December 31, 2025, Eneo customers in its Douala region will receive technical teams at their homes or places of business. The company responsible for distributing electricity in Cameroon has just launched an inspection campaign of all meters in the city of Douala and surrounding areas.

The operation, which concerns both communicating and non-communicating postpaid meters, will take place in the economic capital, but also in parts of certain Littoral departments. These include Moungou, with the area extending from Bekoko to Maleke via Souza and Dibombari; Nkam, from Pk30 to PK45 and Bonepoupa. In the maritime Sanaga, the area from Dibamba to Missole is also concerned. All Eneo low-voltage homes, businesses, and small industries in the Eneo region of Douala will be visited. This region has approximately 622.600  low-voltage customers, including nearly 400,000 in prepayment and more than 220,000 in postpay.

In the field, Eneo’s technical teams carry out meter verification and geolocation at each customer’s premises, update customer information (contact details, activity, telephone number, etc.), and visually inspect the installations. This is to ensure the metering devices are working properly and ensure the reliability of their data.

This campaign, which meets a regulatory requirement, aims to update information in the company’s technical and commercial systems. ”  Initially a one-off, this campaign is now part of a long-term approach to improving the reliability of the customer file and modernizing operating tools, particularly through geolocation. It aims to regularly update customer data and better monitor equipment in the field. This activity also helps reduce the risk of billing errors that could lead to disputes, and improve transparency in customer relations ,” reports Eneo Douala’s regional management.

Customers are asked to identify the agents deployed in the field. They will be provided with a badge, an Eneo (or partner) professional card, and a mission order authenticated via a QR code. This free operation comes two years after a campaign to update prepaid meters across the country.
