The Managing Director of Ecobank Cameroon, Gwendoline Abunaw, has encouraged women to be confident, resilient and intentional in their leadership journeys.
She made the remarks on March 3 during an exchange session in Douala with female journalists who are members of the Cameroon Association of English-Speaking Journalists (Camasej). The meeting formed part of activities marking International Women’s Day, celebrated globally on March 8.
During the interaction, Abunaw shared valuable leadership tips aimed at empowering women across sectors.

She urged women to: Believe in their abilities and avoid underestimating their potential. According to her, confidence is a key driver of effective leadership.
Embrace continuous learning, noting that leadership is a journey that requires growth, adaptability and persistence.
Leverage everyday skills, explaining that qualities such as organization, multitasking, empathy and problem-solving — often developed in managing homes and communities — are powerful assets in companies

The conversation focused on key themes including leadership, career profile development, work–life balance, and effective stress management in the professional environment.
The session offered an opportunity for open dialogue, experience sharing, and practical insights aimed at empowering women in the media and beyond.
