Chad seals deal with Islamic Developemnt Bank for the tarring of Abeche-Abouglem road

Chad and the Islamic Development Bank have signed a loan agreement on for the construction and asphalting of the Abeché – Abouglem road. The Abéché Abouglem section construction and asphalting project is part of the complete construction of the Abeché – Adré road, Sudan border, with a total length of 174 km divided into two lots. Lot 1 is financed by the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) for 134 million euros, approximately 88 billion CFA francs.

According to the Minister of Infrastructure, Transport and Disenclavement Abdramane Mouctar Mahamat, the completion of this road  aims to improve the quality of service in road transport. It will also reduce the cost and time of transport, access to basic socio-economic services, improving the level of comfort and safety of users among others. The overall objective is to stimulate economic growth and promote regional integration.

The active portfolio of the Islamic Development Bank in Chad is made up of 15 projects with a global envelope of $ 641 million. Half of this amount is allocated to the transport sector, informs the Bid representative in Chad, Ali Ousman Khassim. For him, this is proof that his institution is on the side of the Chadian government.

“This financial support is part of an excellent dynamic of cooperation with the Islamic Developemt Bank group, which indicates the constant availability of this bank to support Chad’s development efforts at all times and in all places.” Issa Doubragne, Minister of Economy and Development Planning highlighted.
