Cameroonian start-ups to launch open ICT platform on Agricultural innovations in Africa

Cameroonian start-up Songhai Labs, which presents itself as a knowledge brokerage platform and an accelerator of innovation, has signed a partnership agreement with SatSure, an analytical company that takes advantage of satellites, machine learning and analysis of big data for decision making, we have learnt.  The two partners plan to launch an open platform for agricultural-oriented technological innovations in Africa.

Under the terms of the partnership, the platform to be coordinated by Songhai Labs will also allow access to agricultural data generated by SatSure, which will also provide technical expertise.

According to Charles Awanda, founder and CEO of Songhai Labs, the two companies will “focus primarily on applications of satellite technology in the agricultural sector, this will involve building the platform, training farmers, organizations agricultural and research organizations to use satellite technology to improve productivity in the agricultural sector ”. “The long-term vision could include commercial and government partnerships that will benefit not only the agricultural sector, but also other sectors such as public services, infrastructure, telecommunications, education and research,” said the boss of Songhai Labs.
