Cameroonian Economist Jules Ngankam named Director General of African Guarantee Fund

This economist in service within this Bank of Small and Medium Enterprises, based in Mauritius, has been acting in this position since July 2020. After acting as Managing Director of African Guarantee Fund (AGF) for two months , Cameroonian Jules Ngankam was confirmed to this function, at the end of a session of the Board of Directors held on September 22, 2020. He had been appointed for the interim at the beginning of July 2020.

This graduate of the National School of Statistics and Economic Administration (ENSAE) in Paris knows this company perfectly, where he landed in 2013 as financial director. Through hard work and the experience gained over the years, he was promoted to the post of Deputy Director General in 2017. He also holds a master’s degree in applied mathematics from the University of Paris Dauphine.

“I am very honored to be able to occupy this position. Over the past few years, AGF has succeeded in enabling African SMEs to contribute more to the growth of African economies, and we will work to achieve even greater results ”, Jules Ngankam declared in a statement posted on the website of the company.

AGF was established in 2011 by the Government of Denmark (represented by DANIDA), the Government of Spain (represented by AECID) and the African Development Bank (AfDB). Its mandate is to facilitate access to finance for SMEs in order to enable them to fully play their role as engines of growth in African economies. Its head office is based in Port-Louis, the capital of Mauritius.
