Cameroon launches competition for youths interested in Agriculture

Applications for the “Agristartup challenge” competition will be received online until November 16, 2020. As part of the identification of talents in the agricultural field, the Program for the Promotion of Agro-pastoral Entrepreneurship of Young People (PEA-Jeunes) recently launched an “Agristartup challenge”.

It is a call for projects which “aims to bring about the emergence of businesses promoted by young entrepreneurs having a positive impact on the development of agricultural, pastoral or aquaculture products in the various production basins selected by the program”

Applications will be received online until November 16, 2020. According to our colleague, candidates will compete in the areas of: “access to sustainable markets, green economy / covid-19 response, ‘access to financial services, professionalization of services and the management system and finally logistics solutions and empowerment of production systems.” The competition will take place in two phases including: regional preselections and final selection at national level.

Thus, the support of the young people selected will consist, among other things, “of a 12-month incubation and acceleration program to complete and launch their innovative solution; funding in seed funds (start-up credit) and financial intermediation for a substantial productive credit, hosting the company in a friendly environment during the first months of start-up and favorable to entrepreneurial synergies, a potential market clients and / or strategic partners made up of 3,094 young beneficiaries of Pea-Jeunes ”, notes the reporter.

The competition is open to project leaders and active entrepreneurs aged between 18 and 35 years old. The projects must also be carried out in the Center, Littoral, South and North-West regions
