Banque Atlantique pledges to help Cameroon revive economy

A delegation from Banque Atlantique led by its CEO, Norbert Ngniwake, have made proposals to the  Minister of Finance,  Louis Paul Motaze in a meeting in Yaounde  on October 20, 2020. Focus was on the revival of the country’s economy hit by the COVID 19 pandemic.

As part of the revival of post-Covid-19 economic activities, Banque Atlantique offers to support the Ministry of Finance. It is in this sense that Minister Louis Paul Motaze received a delegation from this bank on October 20, 2020 in Yaoundé. This delegation led by the CEO of the bank, Norbert Ngniwake, was to set up a working group and define the outlines of their proposals.

The bank’s proposals “relate to surety insurance, bank loans that can be guaranteed by insurers, guaranteed accounts, holdbacks and start-up advances. activities, among others .” Norbert Ngniwake explains, “each time an entrepreneur has won a contract, generally the Ministry of Finance gives him an advance of funds but to be sure that this contract will be executed, the insurers issue a bond”.

Louis Paul Motaze welcomed this initiative which “comes at the right time”. According to him, “if the health crisis is not quite over, the economic crisis is only just beginning.”

MINFI also returned to the guidelines given by the Head of State, in particular “support for the private sector which has suffered the full brunt of the effects of the pandemic (direct actions of the State through taxation and financing of certain sectors). Actions also come from partners such as banks or insurance companies. This is especially for banks to grant loans, but they are often reluctant because not enough collaterateral.
