Baloumgou Development Committee organizes Excellence Award, 200 pupils and students benefit

The Baloumgou Development Committee recently organized the second edition of the Academic Excellence Award, a ceremony marked by the distinction of nearly 200 pupils and students. More precisely, 200 young people from Baloumgou, a village located in the Bangou district in the West of Cameroon, are now ready to start the next school year with enthusiasm and serenity.

The rewards awarded include hard cash for the winners of official exams, as well as school supplies for students in intermediate classes. In addition, some teaching materials were donated to schools and nursery schools in the village. This commitment demonstrates the desire to support the educational journey of students and ensure an enriching learning environment.

The ceremony, which brought together administrative, political and traditional authorities, among them the Traditional Ruler of Baloumgou His Royal Highnest Nobert WACHE. The Divisional Officer Jean Louis NTOUH NTOUH who chaired the event expressed his compliments to the initiators of this project, and in particular the Baloumgou Development Committee (CODEBAL) as well as the ad hoc organizing committee set up, the elites and the local and diaspora communities, who joined forces to make this event a reality. The president of CODEBAL, Mr. Clément KEMAYOU, stressed that this prize aims to “establish healthy academic competition among young people and encourage them to reconnect with their cultural roots”.

After two successful editions, the Development Committee is already planning to organize the next edition, which it hopes will be even more mobilizing. “We are currently working on developing a charter of academic excellence, which will specify the criteria for approving candidates. This charter will be widely distributed throughout the Baloumgou community, so that everyone can become aware of it.

A commission is responsible for refining the details,” Mr. KEMAYOU told CEMAC ECO FINANCE.  He also specified that this initiative aims to ensure transparency in the entire process. In addition, the Development Committee plans to invite sponsors to strengthen the resources allocated to encouraging young people to work harder.

Driven by a new momentum of refoundation, CODEBAL remains convinced that investment in youth represents the spearhead of the future. This approach demonstrates a strong commitment to education and community development.
