At the end of their 48-hour visit to Brazzaville, the Senegalese president, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, and his Congolese counterpart, Denis Sassou N’Guesso, expressed, during a joint press conference, the need to deepen their cooperation in the oil and gas sectors. “Senegal recently discovered oil and gas, the exploitation of which began last year, something Congo has been doing for decades. We therefore have an opportunity for cooperation to learn from Congo’s long experience in oil and gas management,” stated the Senegalese head of state, who regretted that trade relations between Dakar and Brazzaville did not reflect the cordiality between the two peoples. “We can do much more ,” he urged.

According to him, cooperation in the oil sector will allow Congo to have other outlets for the export of its gas, and Senegal to have much more secure sources of supply at competitive prices.
For his part, recalling that the training of managers and young people constitutes the future of the African continent, the Congolese president, recognizing the quality of the higher education institutions that Senegal abounds in, expressed the interest in strengthening the links between the two countries in the field of education.
In the Congolese capital, President Bassirou Diomaye Faye visited the Pierre-Savorgnan-de-Brazza memorial, a cultural and historical site that recounts the French penetration of the Congo. Inside, one finds the tombs of the Franco-Italian explorer and some members of his family, as well as the effigy of Sergeant Malamine Camara, a Senegalese non-commissioned officer who served as interpreter and companion to the explorer Pierre Savorgnan de Brazza.
