They were selected from among the 1,171 who tendered for state aid under the Covid-19 solidarity fund, with a view to reviving the national economy. At the end of a call for applications launched on October 5, 2020 by the Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises, Social Economy and Handicrafts, relating to aid for local production for the benefit of companies that have suffered from full whipping the effects of the Coronavirus pandemic, 720 of them have been selected and will benefit from the state subsidy under the Covid-19 solidarity fund, with a view to reviving the national economy.
This is in substance what the head of this ministerial department, Achille Bassilekin III, announced during a press briefing on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 in Yaoundé, on the occasion of the launch of the world week of entrepreneurship.

The 720 companies selected were among the 1171 that submitted. Among the 557 files of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) affected which applied for government assistance, 291 were retained, while 429 files were selected among the 614 files of craftsmen and promoters of Organizations of the Social economy manufacturing masks and hydroalcoholic gels.
“The lists of companies definitively retained throughout the territory have been sent to the Ministry of Finance for authorization and payment by bank transfer. These are the ten regions that came together with their SMEs and their social economy organizations, ” the Minister Achille Bassilekin III said.
For the record, his ministerial department received an envelope of 2 billion FCFA under the Covide-19 solidarity fund for the recovery of the economy. Of this envelope, 1.5 billion FCFA are dedicated to disaster-stricken companies, and 500 million FCFA to support craftsmen and actors in the social economy, as part of the production of hydro-alcoholic gels and protective masks.
