35th Session of the Ministerial Council of UEAC ongoing in Yaounde today

This Monday August 10, 2020, the Cameroonian Minister of the Economy, Planning and Territorial Development, Alamine Ousmane Mey, is chairing in his capacity as Chairman in office, the 35th session of the Council of Ministers of the Economic Union from Central Africa (UEAC).

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the work will be held by video conference with the participation of representatives of the six member countries, namely Gabon, Congo, Chad, Equatorial Guinea, CAR and of course Cameroon.

This Council, which is held the day after the Inter-State Committee organized in Yaoundé on August 4, 2020, will allow the Ministers of Economy and Finance of CEMAC member States to validate the resolutions adopted by this technical body, in particular on the subject recovery measures after the coronavirus, Community funding, free movement in the CEMAC zone and roaming on mobile electronic communications networks open to the public in the CEMAC zone.

In the information note published on this subject, the communication unit of the Cameroonian Ministry of the Economy, Planning and Territorial Development also indicates that at the institutional level, the work of this 35th session of the Council Ministers will also focus on the examination of draft texts, in this case the Additional Act on the election of Deputies by indirect universal suffrage, the regulation establishing the early warning mechanism for macroeconomic imbalances in the CEMAC zone and the regulations on the creation and functioning of the CEMAC mixed brigade. Faced with the Covid-19 pandemic, the Council of Ministers should, like other Community decision-making bodies, decide on strong measures to revive the economy of the sub-region while adopting a regulatory arsenal to prevent the occurrence risks and strengthen the resilience of the CEMAC zone.

As a reminder, the Council of Ministers of UEAC is an Organ of the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa (CEMAC), whose main mission is to establish between Member States of the Community, the conditions for development. economic and social harmonious within the framework of an open market or an appropriate legal environment
