UK Cameroon Chamber of Commerce births Business Guide to boost Economic ties between Cameroon and the United Kingdom

Trade in goods and services between the UK and Cameroon is currently valued at £911 million. The UK stands as one of the principal investors in Cameroon, presenting abundant opportunities across various sectors such as infrastructure, renewable energy, natural resources, and tourism. With the Economic partnership agreement between the UK and Cameroon in full force, prospects for improvement are high.

H.E Barry Lowen, the UK high Commissioner to Cameroon says, ”Last year we experienced a 22% increase in £1 billion and this Partnership is good for the people of Cameroon and the people of the United Kingdom. It is a modern partnership that will continue to grow in the future and I am very optimistic about the potential of Cameroon to continue to grow.”

This development of trade relations has been made available thanks to the UKCCC. Meeting in Douala for their annual General Assembly, the organization has unveiled it’s business guide which serves as the compass in deepening business relations between the two partner countries

For the Chairman of the UK Cameroon Chamber of Commerce, This is ”a guide that teaches you how to do business in Cameroon. It affects all sectors it talks about taxation policy, monetary policy, promising areas for investments; the judicial system and everything you need to know about business in Cameroon you have it in this guide.”

The production of the business guide does not only serves the needs of potential UK investors. It is a multi sectorial instrument which has been highly acclaimed by local authorities”We as the Chamber of Commerce of the United Kingdom, our goal is to promote trade from the United Kingdom to Cameroon. But when you look at the guide, it is not just about trade between Cameroon and the UK. But anyone who wants to invest in Cameroon should have a copy of this document.” Dr Pungong affirmed.

The first half of 2024 was rich for the UKCCC, marked by It’s presence during PROMOTE 2024, the CIMEC,
the recent Green Economy Roadshow in the UK, the visit of Kate Foster a Senior official at the Directorate of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development office to Douala.

After the General Assembly of the UKCCC the British High Commissioner to Cameroon expressed delight that the commercial relations between the UK and Cameroon will continue to grow from strength to strength. Cameroon remains the UK’s 94th trading partner
