The United Bank for Africa (UBA) has reaffirmed its commitment to developing the next generation of African leaders through its prestigious Graduate Management Accelerated Program (GMAP), an intensive six-month initiative aimed at strengthening the technical and leadership skills of young professionals.
At a vibrant graduation ceremony, UBA executives celebrated the new class of graduates who successfully completed the program, while emphasizing the bank’s deep belief in human capital development as a driver of progress on the continent.
Speaking at the event, UBA Senior Executive Mr. Nweke commended the participants’ perseverance and determination, describing them as “the next generation of innovators, leaders, and ambassadors of a lasting legacy for Africa.” “This ceremony is a celebration of potential, perseverance, and determination,” he said. “You are not just graduates; you are leaders in the making. Africa’s future will not be the result of chance, but of skilled and courageous men and women like you.”

The GMAP program combines classroom training, digital simulations, field missions, and mentoring from senior executives, providing participants with the knowledge and experience needed to excel in a constantly evolving financial sector.
It is noteworthy that 73 Cameroonians have benefited from this transformative program and are now employed at UBA Cameroon, illustrating the bank’s strong commitment to supporting youth employment and local skills development.“UBA Cameroon is proud to support young Cameroonian talents and offer them a platform for growth within a globally recognized financial institution,” said Jude Anele, Managing Director of UBA Cameroon. “This initiative is fully aligned with our vision to promote sustainable employment and leadership development among young people.”

Present in 20 African countries as well as the United Kingdom, the United States, France, and the United Arab Emirates, UBA serves more than 45 million customers worldwide. The bank remains one of the largest employers on the African continent, with a workforce of over 25,000 employees across its network.
Through initiatives such as GMAP, UBA Cameroon continues to play a vital role in promoting financial inclusion, technological innovation, and youth empowerment, demonstrating its belief that Africa’s growth hinges on its human capital.
