The 24th Economic Meetings of Aix-en-Provence: A Positive Overview with Distinguished Guests

The 24th Economic Meetings of Aix-en-Provence, which took place on July 5th and 6th, 2024, were not only a testament to the event’s role as a pivotal platform for global dialogue but also a gathering of some of the most influential figures in the economic sphere. The theme “Connecting Worlds” was exemplified through the participation of leaders who offered their insights on the pressing global economic, political, and social challenges of our times.

The Meetings were graced by the presence of 380 speakers from 47 countries, including:

  • President Macky Sall, whose dedication to economic development and international cooperation is globally acknowledged.
  • Madame Louise Mushikiwabo, Secretary-General of La Francophonie, who emphasized the significance of cultural and linguistic diversity in economic interactions.
  • Fatimatou BA, an entrepreneur and technology leader, symbolizing African innovation and entrepreneurial spirit.

Additionally, the event was honored by the attendance of:

  • François Villeroy de Galhau, Governor of the Bank of France, whose influence shapes monetary policy and economic stability.
  • Christine Lagarde, President of the European Central Bank, a pivotal figure in European and global finance.
  • Christel Heydemann, CEO of Orange, representing one of the leading telecommunications companies and its role in digital transformation.
  • Patrick Pouyanné, CEO of TotalEnergies, illustrating the energy sector’s evolution and its strategies towards sustainability.

These distinguished guests, along with Kako Nubukpo, Boris Ghirardi, Peter Mandelson, and Enrico Letta, enriched the debates and contributed to the development of 19 concrete proposals aimed at fostering a collaborative and sustainable future.

Parc Jourdan welcomed nearly 7,000 participants, and the sessions were followed by thousands online, showcasing the Meetings’ dedication to accessibility and inclusion. The event solidified its reputation as Europe’s leading economic and social forum and underscored French soft power in spearheading global discussions.
