Nigeria’s Dangote Refinery and Cameroon’s Neptune Oil mark a historic milestone in their economic cooperation. The first export of refined petroleum products illustrates their vision of a more energy-independent and integrated Africa, while meeting the region’s growing needs.

In an unprecedented strategic move, Dangote Refinery and Neptune Oil have just concluded their first fuel export transaction to Cameroon. This partnership marks a major step forward in the collaboration between Nigeria and Cameroon, two key players in the region. Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Chairman and Managing Director of Dangote Group, hailed this achievement as an illustration of its ambition for an energy independent African continent: “This first export of PMS to Cameroon is a concrete demonstration of our vision for an integrated Africa. We are transforming our resources to directly benefit our people.”
For Cameroon, this transaction is of capital importance. Dr. Antoine Ndzengue, Director of Neptune Oil, stressed the impact of this agreement on the country’s energy security and economic development: “This partnership allows us to consolidate our energy independence while reducing logistics costs thanks to proximity. It is a step forward that also helps to reduce oil subsidies borne by the State.” This first delivery, made without international intermediaries, highlights the ability of the two companies to collaborate effectively to meet the needs of the local market.
This initiative paves the way for further cooperation. Dangote Refinery and Neptune Oil are already working on new projects to stabilize fuel prices, improve supply chains and create economic opportunities across the region. For Nigeria, this export showcases the power of Dangote Refinery, which can surpass national needs to become a regional energy leader.
With a processing capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, Dangote Refinery is establishing itself as a pillar of energy transformation in Africa. For its part, Neptune Oil is strengthening its leading position in the provision of sustainable energy solutions in Cameroon and the region. This first export heralds promising prospects for sustainable collaboration and integrated African energy development.
