MTN Cameroon to construct 12 Digital Centres to boost Education

As part of the 2025 edition of its “21 Days of Y’ello Care” program, MTN Cameroon is committed to establishing 12 Digital Learning Centers across the country’s ten regions. Through this employee-led initiative, the telecom operator aims to strengthen digital inclusion, foster local entrepreneurship, and offer new learning opportunities to communities.

On May 17, 2025, MTN Cameroon presented its new “21 Days of Y’ello Care” campaign in Yaoundé, also marking the 25th anniversary of its presence in Cameroon. This annual volunteer program, initiated in 2007 by the MTN Group, mobilizes employees for social actions in the 22 countries where it operates. For this edition, the focus is on digital education with an ambitious project: the creation of 12 Digital Learning Centers.

The centers will be distributed across Cameroon’s ten regions and fully equipped: 20 computers, a multifunction color printer, a video projector, a solar power source, ergonomic furniture, and free internet access for one year. These spaces aim to make digital technology accessible, particularly to young people, women, and local entrepreneurs.

The project selection process began with a call for applications in all regions. After an initial selection of 100 projects on May 22, a committee will select the 30 most relevant. On May 29, the general public will vote to select the 10 final projects, ensuring the direct involvement of communities in this process.

Construction work on the centers will begin on June 1st . It will be carried out not only by MTN employees, but also by their partners and members of the beneficiary communities. This participatory approach aims to strengthen local ownership and promote solidarity.

For Danielle MBOME EFOULA, Executive Secretary of the MTN Foundation, “this initiative aims to stimulate the local economy by equipping communities with the digital skills necessary for their development.” The centers will also offer certified training and incubation programs.

With “21 Days of Y’ello Care 2025,” MTN Cameroon is doing more than just a philanthropic gesture: it is paving the way for an inclusive digital future, where every citizen, wherever they are, can learn, undertake, and innovate. A vision of solidarity and lasting impact.
