According to the Cameroon Employers Association, this public-private consultation framework is ineffective. The employers proposed the establishment of the Cameroon Business Council (CBC).
The Inter-Patronal Group of Cameroon (GICAM) officially presented, on November 10, 2020, its white paper on the Cameroonian economy. It is a set of contributions from business leaders to guide economic policies and improve the business environment.

Several proposals are made there, including the dissolution of the Cameroon Business Forum. This public-private consultation mechanism to work to improve the business climate is, according to the employers, ineffective. To replace the CBF, GICAM proposes the establishment of the Cameroon Business Council (CBC).
“We are proposing a mechanism which is more universal, which deals with all issues of the business environment and the competitiveness of enterprises. Then, we bring differences or novelties at the level of the operating mode. We believe that everything that is preparation, the event itself, the monitoring and evaluation must change “, Francis Sanzouango, the chief of staff of the president of GICAM says.
Beyond a name change, the Employer Group would like the number of participants in the annual discussion which brings together public authorities and employers to be reduced. “To grant the vice-presidency to the president of GICAM, and that the preparation of this consultation framework be collegial and the recommendations must be agreed upon.”
Regarding the white paper of the Cameroonian economy, Célestin Tawamba, the president of GICAM affirms that “it is a question of describing an economic model which can allow us to achieve emergence”.
