A unique partnership has emerged between the Directorate General of Customs and the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT). The goal: to combat the fraudulent importation and circulation of products under FECAFOOT’s exclusive commercial rights. Signed for a period of three years, this agreement aims to establish strict measures to counter smuggling and preserve the integrity of the national market.
On April 2, 2025, the conference room of the Directorate General of Customs was the scene of a historic ceremony. FONGOD Edwin NUVAGA, Director General of Customs, and Samuel ETO’O Fils, President of FECAFOOT, formalized a strategic partnership. This agreement aims to strengthen customs surveillance and protect FECAFOOT’s exclusive products against counterfeiting and fraud.

This memorandum of understanding is part of a proactive approach to: Integrate customs regulations into the protection of FECAFOOT’s exclusive products; Streamline foreign trade operations; Strengthen customs revenue collection; Ensure strict application of customs regulations; Train and raise awareness among stakeholders; Protect consumers against counterfeit products.
To carry out this mission, FECAFOOT undertakes to: Comply with customs regulations; Declare all its imports and pay duties and taxes; Collaborate in the identification of counterfeiting networks; Share its expertise to detect fraudulent products; Participate in joint seizure operations; Raise public awareness of the risks of counterfeiting.
The General Directorate of Customs undertakes to: Strengthen control at borders and on the national territory; Ensure increased surveillance of FECAFOOT’s exclusive products; Facilitate customs clearance procedures for compliant products; Establish a platform for exchanging information on seizures; Regularly report on the actions taken.
A DGD/FECAFOOT Joint Committee will be responsible for monitoring the implementation of the memorandum of understanding. It will be composed of six equal members, three from each institution, and will oversee: Material, technical, and financial resources; Evaluation of activities and the reward plan; and Settlement of disputes related to the agreement.
This partnership marks a turning point in the fight against fraud and counterfeiting in Cameroon. With the involvement of all stakeholders, Customs and FECAFOOT hope not only to protect the national market but also to strengthen the confidence of consumers and economic partners. Now it’s time to take action for effective regulation and optimal protection of Cameroonian football.
