On August 8, the Minister of Urban Sanitation, Local Development, and Road Maintenance, Juste Désiré Mondelé, officially launched the development and upgrading works on the Mpiem–Kindamba road, at a total cost of 1.7 billion CFA francs. The project aims to improve travel conditions along this vital 86-kilometer route that links the districts of Kindamba, Kimba, and Vinza.
The works, divided into two sections, will be carried out by two companies—Sipam and Universelle Atlantique BTP. The first section, entrusted to Sipam, includes clearing the road’s right-of-way over a width of about 10 meters, as well as restoring the roadbed with a 20-centimeter layer of laterite. The second section, assigned to Universelle Atlantique BTP, involves the construction of 19 culvert structures, including a double culvert at kilometer point 42.

Landry Francis Gouloundou, Director General of Road Maintenance, emphasized the project’s importance for local economic growth. “This rehabilitation will improve access to markets, schools, and healthcare facilities, while reducing transportation costs,” he noted.
Against a backdrop of macroeconomic imbalances, Minister Mondelé reaffirmed the government’s commitment to opening up rural areas: “We started with Mindouli, a strategic agricultural hub located near Brazzaville.”
The launch ceremony drew large crowds of residents and political supporters, reflecting strong community support for the project. Local farmers, who have long struggled to get their products to market, see the roadworks as a lifeline.
“This road is a breath of relief for us,” residents expressed during the ceremony. Scheduled to last six months, the project is widely seen as a promise to improve living conditions in the region.
Overall, the rehabilitation of the Mpiem–Kindamba road marks a major step forward for local communities and a key milestone in the government’s 2025 road maintenance program.
