The first shopping center in Central Africa, the “Douala Grand Mall” opened its doors on November 17, 2020. On the eve of this opening, the managers of this project gave a press briefing in the economic capital, to present the history of this shopping center, whose work began in 2017.
The Douala Grand Mall is “a sign with a surface area of 2,000 m2, which marks the end of the first phase of work completed last September. It sets itself the challenge of exhibiting a varied assortment of products, 70% of which come from Cameroon, thanks to the contribution of the 400 local suppliers who accompany it ”. The Douala Grand Mall employs 160 Cameroonian employees in various positions.

On November 17, 2020, when it opened: “there was a wide range of quality fresh products from agriculture, breeding, fish farming (meat, fish, poultry, fruits, vegetables, spices, honey. , coffee, jam, drugstore, cosmetics etc.). This, for all budgets and all tastes, ”says the reporter.
For those in charge of this project who spoke to the press: “while meeting customer expectations, it is about promoting the promotion of Cameroonian agro-pastoral products, and supporting the development of small industries and craftsmanship taking into account the specificities of each catchment area ”.
The second stage of the Douala Grand Mall project “is expected by the end of 2021. With a multiplex cinema of five screens for a total of 1,000 seats, a supermarket, a spa, restaurants, a leisure center , commercial areas, stores, a hotel and an office park. All in an ecological building, the first and only one to be certified in Cameroon ”.
