Cameroonians have emerged as some of the top beneficiaries of the United Bank for Africa (UBA) Group’s Graduate Management Accelerated Programme (GMAP). This initiative has placed UBA Group at the forefront of providing young graduates with hands-on training across the countries where it operates. Many of the program’s standout participants ultimately secure lucrative positions within the bank.
This year, 26 Cameroonians benefitted from the UBA Group’s GMAP—an outstanding increase from just three who completed the rigorous process in 2023. These graduates were deployed to various units within UBA Cameroon, including Marketing Operations, Information Technology, and Customer Experience, among others.

Through GMAP, UBA Cameroon has consistently played a vital role in training young professionals, combating unemployment, and equipping fresh graduates with the skills needed to thrive in the job market. Over the years, the program has helped prepare young people for successful careers in the banking sector.
When the 2024 GMAP cohort of 368 graduates were inducted this year, many Cameroonians praised UBA’s continued commitment to offering opportunities for young people to build careers and excel. It is worth noting that participants in the program come from diverse backgrounds, highlighting the bank’s inclusive approach.
Every year, the UBA Group, through its various subsidiaries, provides openings for young professionals eager to build outstanding careers. The rigorous selection process is always transparent and ensures a level playing field for youth empowerment and employment.
Thanks to GMAP, hundreds of young graduates have received invaluable training, producing some of the best professionals, particularly in the banking industry. This initiative represents an ongoing investment in the future, as the bank continues to serve communities across the continent.
For the past 75 years, the UBA Group has remained strong, firmly believing that people are essential to establishing sustainable businesses that drive growth and inspire others. In this regard, the Graduate Management Programme (GMAP) has remained a cornerstone for attracting, sourcing, developing, and retaining young professionals of great potential.
The GMAP has consistently delivered the next generation of leaders in business, banking, and related professions, who go on to serve countries and manage successful enterprises. The UBA Group’s initiative stands out in the job market, particularly in Africa, where many companies do not prioritize sustainability or giving back to communities.
Through the Graduate Management Accelerated Programme, GMAP, UBA’s future as a stable, credible, and resilient business and a key player in African and global development is assured.
