On December 13, 2025, the Board of Directors of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) approved a new program of projects totaling approximately US$1.365 billion (over 726 billion FCFA) for 12 member countries, including Cameroon. This took place during its 363rd session
The 14 operations supporting development projects cover renewable energy and cross-border electricity interconnections, major transport corridors, water security and agriculture, as well as education and health services. The IDB’s objective is to strengthen economic resilience, improve access to essential services, and accelerate progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

In the case of Cameroon, the country will receive €36.66 million (over 24 billion FCFA) for the Sustainable Irrigation and Agricultural Value Chain Development Project, which will support climate-resilient irrigation, improved inputs, and enhanced rural infrastructure. This IDB-funded project aims to strengthen food security and increase the competitiveness of key sectors such as oil palm, pineapple, and plantain.
The food security situation in Cameroon has deteriorated throughout 2025 due to overlapping climatic, economic, conict-related and public-health shocks. Between June and August 2025, projections estimated that 2.6 million people about 9% of the population would face Crisis (IPC Phase 3) or worse.
As a reminder, the IDB is one of Cameroon’s most consistent partners, with an active portfolio of 14 projects totaling 427.63 billion FCFA. According to the Ministry of Economy, Planning and Regional Development (MINEPAT), this portfolio has recently been strengthened with the Basic Education Support Project in Cameroon (PAEBC/CAMBESP), financed in partnership with the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA) and the Global Partnership for Education (GPE).
